Few actors have experienced a breakout year quite like Inde Navarrette.
Now, it appears the next chapter could involve superheroes, speaking with Nylon, Navarrette didn’t hesitate when asked whether she’d be interested in joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe:
“I would.”
According to reports, she’s already met with Jake Schreier, who is attached to direct Marvel Studios’ upcoming X-Men reboot, fuelling speculation that a mutant role could be on the horizon.
Marvel isn’t the only major franchise reportedly interested, Navarrette has also met with acclaimed filmmaker Michael Mann, who is currently assembling the cast for the long awaited Heat 2, the sequel to his legendary 1995 crime classic.
When asked which filmmakers she’d most like to collaborate with, Navarrette also named Ryan Coogler, Greta Gerwig, Schreier and Mann among her dream directors.
Already Looking Beyond Obsession
While rumours continue to swirl about future blockbusters, Navarrette’s next project is already in the can, she’ll next appear in Invertigo, directed by Matthias Hoene, a survival thriller centred around a group of teenagers who become trapped hundreds of feet above the ground after sneaking onto a rollercoaster before its official opening.
As mechanical failure leaves them stranded, long buried secrets and personal tensions begin surfacing, turning the terrifying situation into something even darker.
Will Obsession Return?
Despite Obsession‘s enormous success, Navarrette isn’t convinced the story necessarily needs a direct sequel, director Curry Barker has previously revealed he already has “a really cool idea” for a follow up, but Navarrette believes there’s another direction worth exploring.
“I think the beautiful thing about it is that there is no sequel.”
Instead, she says she’d love to see Barker expand the concept into an anthology series, with each story exploring a different wish and its consequences.
For now, though, the actor is embracing every opportunity coming her way.
“I don’t care how much I’m not sleeping, because I don’t know if I’ll get this opportunity again … I really want to prove that Obsession wasn’t just lightning in a bottle.”
Given the pace of her rise, and the calibre of directors already calling, it doesn’t look like Hollywood sees her success as a fluke either.
