‘Masters Of The Universe’ Trailer Drops With Nicholas Galitzine As He-Man And Jared Leto As Skeletor

The ‘Masters of the Universe’ (2026) reboot has officially stepped out of the shadows with its first teaser trailer, and it looks like it’s aiming for big screen fantasy fun with a serious budget behind it.

Front and centre is Nicholas Galitzine as Prince Adam / He-Man, swinging straight into the kind of sword and sorcery madness that defined the original Mattel franchise, this is the full cinematic treatment too.

The film is set to hit cinemas on Thursday, June 4th in Australia and the 5th in the US and Canada and is not some cheap nostalgia play.

What the story’s about

The premise leans hard into the “hero dragged from destiny” angle, Prince Adam is pulled away from Eternia as a ten year old while the planet is torn apart by civil war, he’s taken to Earth, separated from the Sword of Power, and basically cut off from the life he was meant to live.

Fast forward 20 years, and Adam is forced to go back…

That return kicks off the real meat of the story, where he has to reclaim his birthright, become He-Man, and lead what’s left of Eternia’s warriors against the evil forces of Skeletor, played by Jared Leto.

The film is directed by Travis Knight

This is an interesting choice if you want action that actually lands with weight, it’s also stacked with writers Chris Butler, Aaron and Adam Nee, and Dave Callaham.

The cast is loaded

Alongside Galitzine and Leto, the film also stars, Alison Brie, Camila Mendes, Idris Elba, Morena Baccarin, James Purefoy and more, which screams “event movie”, even if you’ve never owned a plastic sword in your life.

The big question now is whether it can balance the fun of the original with something modern audiences won’t immediately meme to death, but off this teaser alone, it looks like ‘Masters of the Universe’ is going all in.
