NBA 2K26 Taps Angel Reese For Season 7 As Playoffs Heat Up And WNBA Returns

Share

NBA 2K26 is stepping into playoff season with the volume cranked all the way up, officially unveiling Season 7 tomorrow (May 15th) with WNBA cover athlete Angel Reese leading the charge.

Fresh off becoming the fastest player in WNBA history to reach 50 career double doubles, smashing the milestone in just 65 games, Reese now fronts the latest season of 2K’s basketball juggernaut as both the NBA postseason and the WNBA’s 30th season collide in real time.

Season 7 leans heavily into that pressure cooker atmosphere. Championships are within reach, legacies are being rewritten nightly, and 2K clearly wants players to feel like they’re part of the fun rather than just watching from the sidelines.

The biggest additions land across MyCAREER, MyTEAM, The W Online and The Park, with Rivet City Park making a comeback for longtime players who still remember grinding through NBA 2K16’s industrial styled courts.

MyCAREER rewards this season include a Level 18 Dune Buggy Vehicle, the ‘Moondog’ Cleveland Cavaliers mascot at Level 19, and a coveted +1 Cap Breaker waiting at Level 40, meanwhile, MyTEAM starts throwing absurd power levels into the mix with Invincible, Dark Matter and 100 OVR cards flooding the mode.

That includes a Level 1 Invincible Angel Reese card and a Level 40 G.O.A.T. Michael Jordan card because subtlety has never really been part of NBA 2K’s DNA.

Over in The W Online, players can celebrate the beginning of the new WNBA season with Atlanta Dream-themed rewards, cosmetic drops and VC bonuses tied to seasonal progression.

Season 7 also introduces a new Pro Pass and Hall of Fame Pass loaded with premium cosmetics, mascots and another 100 OVR Stephen Curry card for players willing to put extra VC on the line.

There’s a lot happening here, but the timing feels deliberate, with the NBA Finals looming and women’s basketball pulling record breaking attention globally, NBA 2K26 is positioning Season 7 right in the middle of basketball’s current cultural explosion.

Putting Angel Reese front and centre feels less like a marketing move and more like an acknowledgment of where the sport’s momentum is heading, although it would have nice to have seen Cade Cunningham. Lets go Pistons!
