Electric Callboy Release Cover Of ‘You Say Run’ From ‘My Hero Academia’

Electric Callboy have surprised fans with an unexpected cover – ‘You Say Run’, a song from the beloved anime My Hero Academia, to celebrate its 10th anniversary.

The German band collaborated with Yuki Hayashi, the song’s original composer, on the updated version. The song features new English lyrics written by Hayashi, as well as a heavier focus on EDM from a sonic standpoint.

The song has been rerecorded as part of an ongoing series of celebrations for the anime’s 10th anniversary, including an extensive tour celebrating the music from the show dubbed My Hero Academia in Concert.

The new version was performed live for the first time over the weekend (September 20th), with the band’s two lead vocalists – Kevin Ratajczak and Nico Sallach – joining the lineup for My Hero Academia in Concert at the Eventim Apollo in London.

“We are beyond excited to have this opportunity,” said Ratajczak in a press statement. “The melody of ‘You Say Run’ is so powerful and uplifting – we just absolutely love this song.”

“Working on this track was pure fun, and it was a huge honour to collaborate on it,” added Sallach. “We can’t wait for everyone to hear it! We really hope you’re as excited for it as we are.”

Hayashi, for his part, noted that the band gave the song “an unprecedented surge of energy” as part of the anniversary re-recording.

“I am deeply honored and thrilled to share this special sound, born from the intersection of our shared energy,” he said.

‘You Say Run’ marks the band’s first new music since the release of their seventh album Tanzneid last month. The album marked their second number-one album in their native Germany, and included collaborations with Babymetal and The Offspring.

Covers have long been a key part of Electric Callboy’s repertoire. The band first rose to attention in Germany with a rendition of Katy Perry’s then-recent hit ‘Calfornia Gurls’ in 2010, and their take on Cascada’s ‘Everytime We Touch’ has remained a staple of their live shows.

Most recently, the band shared a cover of ‘Maniac’, the 1983 Michael Sembello hit from the Flashdance soundtrack, that was recorded for the Musora YouTube channel.

Electric Callboy recently wrapped their first-ever arena tour of Australia, where they were joined by Ice Nine Kills and Coldrain.
