Korn founding members Reginald “Fieldy” Arvizu and Brian “Head” Welch have found themselves on the same stage again, reuniting at the opening of The Whosoevers’ new headquarters in Boise, Idaho.
The September 26th event marked the official unveiling of the Christian organisation’s new global outreach centre. It isn’t simply an office: The Whosoevers have built the space to host intimate concerts, guest speakers and community events, with an on-site skateboarding mini ramp also part of the facility (per The PRP).
Founded by P.O.D. frontman Sonny Sandoval and Ryan Ries in 2009, The Whosoevers works largely with young people through school tours, live music and action sports. Its programs address subjects including addiction, depression, self-harm, mental health and identity, all through the organisation’s Christian ministry.
The Boise opening brought several corners of that extended community together. P.O.D. performed at the event, as did former Flyleaf vocalist Lacey Sturm, with Fieldy and Head ultimately joining the action themselves.
According to footage from the night, the Korn pair joined P.O.D. for “Boom” and were also involved in a cover of Beastie Boys’ “Sabotage”.
Seeing Fieldy and Head together is significant given how distant Fieldy has been from Korn in recent years. The bassist stepped away from the band in 2021 and said last year: “I haven’t talked to those guys since 2019.”
There has been no indication that the Boise appearance changes Fieldy’s status with Korn.
There is, however, an Australian connection to the night. Whosoevers co-founder Sandoval will be back here with P.O.D. in December, when the band joins the Good Things Festival run through Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane. They will also play sideshows with Ocean Grove in Brisbane, Adelaide and Melbourne.
