Melbourne power-pop/garage rock band Public Figures have released a new standalone singer, sharing a trio of headlining dates to celebrate its release and see out what’s been a busy 2026.
The new single was produced by Gigi Argiro, the band’s drummer and co-lead vocalist, and follows on from the release of their debut EP, Figure It Out!, back in February. In a joint press statement, the band described the song’s lyrical theme as “reaching the end of your patience with repeated bad behaviour”.
“[For instance], men crossing the same boundaries again and again,” they wrote. “It’s that feeling of being completely fed up with people’s shit, and no longer [being] willing to put up with it.”
An accompanying music video for the single has also been shared, which was co-directed by the team of Richard Clifford and the band’s rhythm guitarist and co-lead vocalist Evie Viah. Watch it below:
Since the release of Figure It Out!, Public Figures have been a consistent presence on the live music circuit locally. This has included slots on festivals such as Golden Plains, Against The Grain and Winter Sounds, as well as their own headlining EP tour and supports for the likes of C.O.F.F.I.N and Kanekoayano.
Fresh from performing at this year’s Bigsound, the band have announced a further run of dates to go along with previously-announced support slots opening for fellow Melbourne band The Belair Lip Bombs.
Public Figures are also slated to play the Croxton Block Party next month, as curated by King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard. After a quick break over Christmas, the band return to the live arena in February to play the Croxton Bandroom in support of The Saints ’73–’78.
