There’s something undeniably ambitious about a band willing to build an entire world around a release, and for Adelaide heavy outfit alt., Nevermore is exactly that.
Moving beyond standalone singles and leaning fully into cinematic storytelling, the alt.’s latest EP unfolds as a dystopian concept record set in the year 2073, where humanity’s failures have finally caught up with it.
Earth has been pushed to collapse through war, greed and unchecked destruction, while survival has become a commodity reserved for those wealthy enough to escape.
Across six tracks, Nevermore follows one man’s brutal journey through a fractured future, charting his fight for survival, his desperate pursuit of hope, and ultimately his rebellion against the systems designed to keep ordinary people oppressed.
The band take us inside each chapter of the story, unpacking the themes, tension and worldbuilding that drive one of their most expansive releases to date.

Track One – Twenty Seventy-Three
Set in the year 2073, this new single paints a bleak portrait of a planet stripped bare, its natural resources exhausted, its landscapes uninhabitable, and humanity pushed to the brink of extinction. Amid the wreckage, a small band of survivors refuse to surrender, clinging to the faintest glimmers of hope as they search for salvation in a world that has all but given up on them. It’s a story of resilience in the face of ruin, and the desperate fight to find light at the end of the world.
Track Two – Blood & Wine
A desperate gamble under a darkened sky “Blood & Wine” drops you into the pit where survival is currency and every strike buys a sliver of hope. Our fighter steps into the arena with nine wins behind him and one brutal truth ahead: one more victory means escape for him and his wife from a dying world. Above, the distant elite of Nephilim watch, wagering on bloodshed like it’s sport. Down below, there are only two exits triumph or a body dragged from the sand. One fight left. One chance to live.
Track Three – Passage
“Passage” tells the story of a desperate escape from a dying Earth, as our protagonist and his wife risk everything for a chance at a new life on the distant planet Nephilim. Their only way out is the super rail. A perilous route plagued by bandits who prey on those brave enough to make the journey. With survival far from guaranteed, the pair are forced to confront an impossible choice: remain on a collapsing world, or gamble their lives on the unknown in pursuit of hope.
Track Four – Replicate
On Nephilim, a fresh world with an all-too-familiar rot, our protagonist lands hoping for something new, only to find the same old empire rising. Pollution clouds the promise, power hoards the wealth, and tyranny tightens its grip. Disillusion turns to anger, and in the shadows of repetition, the first spark of rebellion ignites.
Track Five – They’ve Always Lived In The Castle
They’ve Always Lived In The Castle is a rallying cry for revolution. It confronts a world where power has always protected itself, where the wealthy remain untouched, and those at the top tighten their grip while the rest are left behind. The song channels the anger and urgency of a breaking point, a moment when people decide they’ve had enough and rise to reclaim their lives.
But revolution comes at a cost. The first strike sparks a brutal retaliation from Nephilim Corp, unleashing violence that leaves thousands dead. What begins as defiance quickly becomes a war, and the fight for freedom is only just beginning.
Track Six – Sucker Punch
This song is our final stand. A fight back against an oppressive force that has lied, cheated, and taken everything we hold dear. Sucker Punch captures that breaking point, when you’ve had enough of the lies and the control. It’s about fighting back, standing together, and being ready for the battle ahead. This time, we’re prepared.
