Amyl And The Sniffers have immortalised their headlining set at London’s Alexandra Palace this October
It’s been a hell of a year for Amyl And The Sniffers. They scored their first ever Grammy nomination for “U Should Not Be Doing That” from their latest album, Cartoon Darkness, a massive night at the ARIAs, supporting rock royalty AC/DC, the Rolling Stone cover, that whole Melbourne thing – it’s been quite a ride. And it’s not showing any sign of slowing down, with news just to hand that the Sniffers are fanging out a brand new concert film, Live At Ally Pally 2025.
“Ally Pally” in this context is London’s Alexandra Palace, where the gig – apparently their biggest ever, with a crowd of 10,000 screaming fans – was filmed in October. Directed by John Angus Stewart and shot in gorgeously grainy 16mm, it’s a fast, frenetic, front row seat for Australia’s hottest band right now, featuring incendiary live cuts of “Doing in Me Head”, “GFY”, “Jerkin’”, “Tiny Bikini”, and more – 24 full songs.
The bad news is that it’s a pretty light dose of Amyl – only a slim but ferocious 23 minutes and 41 seconds. But the good news is that Amy and the lads have stuck the whole thing up on YouTube absolutely free – which is 100% on brand for a band known to pick up the occasional bar tab to sooth disappointed punters. In fact, you can watch it here:
Next up for Amyl And The Sniffers is a headlining North American tour that kicks off in Toronto in June, following on from their recent run through the States supporting Turnstile. Of course, that’s a fair few months away – given how much they’ve been absolutely dominating the scene this year, something else is bound to come up between now and then.
