Battlefield 6 is offering players the rare option of uninstalling its campaign after completing it to free up some much-needed space on your hard drive.
Players have discovered a nifty feature in Battlefield 6 that might be a much-needed quality-of-life boon gamers may want to take advantage of.
After completing its single-player campaign, Battlefield 6 will let players uninstall the campaign content to free up space on their hard drive. While a majority of us are keenly locked into multiplayer, getting crossmapped by snipers, a decent chunk of players have grinded their way through the game’s story mode.
In the lead-up to Battlefield 6‘s release, developers DICE were hyping their brand new campaign, as it was the series’ first in over 10 years. In our review, we found the campaign fairly middling, with solid cinematic moments, with the occasional impressive combat scenario. Other critics would go on to say the story was relatively simple and that its cast of characters wasn’t strong enough to sustain interest throughout its five-hour runtime.
Well, if you have no intention of returning to the campaign after finishing, you can simply uninstall that section of the game and reclaim all that disk space for yourself.
That said, the official recommendation directs players to explore in-game challenges for unique story mode unlocks before offering to delete it.
IGN reports that those who choose to uninstall the campaign could save about 15GB of storage space, and potentially even more after removing certain HD texture packs. Which means you can trim your Battlefield 6 disk space down to 55GB – a reasonably acceptable size compared to Call of Duty and Destiny‘s massive 100GB+ behemoths.
Battlefield 6 launched only last week for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X and S. The game quickly hit a peak of 740,000 players according to SteamDB, marking it as the biggest Steam launch in the series‘ history.
