I Prevail Erase Brian Burkheiser From Their Digital History And Fans Are Noticing

Share

This isn’t just a new chapter, it’s a full-blown rewrite.

In the days since Brian Burkheiser’s departure from I Prevail was announced, the band have quietly, but unmistakably, started scrubbing their digital history. First came the clean break statement on May 15, painted with the usual brushstrokes: “mutual parting,” “grateful for the journey,” and all the other PR-friendly fare. But fans paying close attention have caught something colder beneath the surface.

I Prevail have wiped their entire Instagram feed, unfollowed Burkheiser, and locked in matching red-lit profile pictures across their individual accounts. Their main page now follows only five accounts—all current members or affiliated crew. Burkheiser, who co-founded the band and was the clean vocal backbone since day one, is nowhere to be found.

Multiple fans have told Blunt that as recently as the day of the announcement, the band was still following Brian. One follower wrote, “I checked right after the post went up. They were still following him then. Now? Gone.” Another confirmed the unfollow happened within 48 hours of the statement, calling the move “petty and obvious.”

This kind of digital exorcism doesn’t happen by accident. It’s a deliberate effort to reset the band’s image and likely to steer focus toward whatever iteration of I Prevail comes next. Eric Vanlerberghe is now carrying lead vocal duties, with Dylan Bowman supporting live. Jon Eberhard, a longtime touring keyboardist/DJ, has suddenly appeared in their ‘following’ list, possibly stepping into a more prominent creative role.

None of this was mentioned in the official post. No goodbye video. No highlights reel. Just a post, a purge, and a rebrand.

And look, we get it, bands evolve, line-ups change, brands shift. But when the guy who helped shape your entire sound is removed this surgically, fans are right to ask what really went down. Especially when the public-facing message and behind-the-scenes behaviour don’t quite match.

As it stands, Burkheiser hasn’t responded publicly beyond the initial announcement. But this quiet digital blackout speaks volumes and fans are hearing it loud and clear.

The band is also premiering a new song on their youtube channel
