Imminence have unveiled a new music video for ‘Crestfallen’, taking their dark Axis Mundi story further after the album reached No. 27 on Australia’s ARIA Albums Chart.
The Swedish band released their sixth album on October 2nd through Sumerian Records. ‘Crestfallen’ first appeared alongside ‘False Light’ in July, when the album was announced. The new cinematic video is separate from the original visualiser and a recent live performance at Ystads Theater for the Recording Academy’s Global Spin series.
Directed by Pavel Trebukhin, the new clip continues a story told across ‘The Sword That Never Bends’, ‘False Light’ and ‘If Not Now, When’. At its centre is an immortal knight searching for a way to die, with a figure known as the Shadow pursuing him towards the Axis Mundi, a bridge between life and death.
It’s a setting that suits ‘Crestfallen’. Eddie Berg’s clean vocals and violin sit alongside electronic textures and orchestral arrangements, giving the song room to breathe before the heavier passages arrive.
The song nearly didn’t make the album at all. In a track-by-track interview with Kerrang!, Berg explained that the band had put it aside until producer Drew Fulk heard a late demo and pushed them to finish it.
