The increasingly bitter public dispute between filmmaker Matt Zane and the Static-X camp has taken another dramatic turn, with Zane releasing what he claims is leaked footage of Edsel Dope discussing the late Wayne Static and Tera Wray.
The videos, which have been shared across Zane’s social media accounts, appear to show the Dope frontman (who currently performs as Xer0 in Static-X’s reunion lineup), speaking about Wayne and Tera’s struggles with addiction.
According to Zane, the comments relate to the inspiration behind the Project Regeneration Vol. 2 track “Z0mbie”, with Zane alleging the song’s accompanying animated video intentionally mocked the couple’s addiction and personal hardships (per The PRP).

The footage also appears to feature comments allegedly made by Edsel regarding Wayne Static’s addiction and his eventual role fronting the reunited Static-X, the clips have been released without broader context, and neither Edsel Dope nor representatives for Static-X have publicly commented on the footage or the claims surrounding it.
The latest development is another chapter in an ongoing dispute that has played out publicly over the past several years.
Wayne and Tera documentary
Zane, a longtime friend of Wayne Static and his wife Tera Wray, has maintained that he was asked by the couple to document what ultimately became the final years of their lives. Following Wayne’s passing in 2014 and Tera’s passing in 2016, Zane began work on an unauthorised documentary centred on the pair.
The project has been strongly opposed by both the estates of Wayne and Tera, along with the Static-X camp, who have reportedly issued cease and desist notices in an effort to prevent its release, despite this Zane has repeatedly stated he intends to complete and release the documentary.
The dispute has intensified throughout July, earlier this month Zane shared Wayne Static’s original version of “Hollow”, claiming it demonstrated the song was substantially complete before it was later reworked for Project: Regeneration Vol. 1. The recording was subsequently removed following copyright action.
At the same time, Zane has also confirmed work is continuing on another previously unheard Wayne Static recording, “Here Is The Truth,” which is being restored and produced by longtime Wayne collaborator Mikael of Mephisto Odyssey.
With new footage now emerging and neither side showing signs of backing down, the conflict surrounding Wayne Static’s legacy continues to unfold in public, with fans left waiting to see whether either camp formally responds to the latest allegations.
