Maynard James Keenan Has Shared An Extensive List of Songs That Inspired Upcoming Puscifer Album ‘Normal Isn’t’

Puscifer frontman Maynard James Keenan has shared the 80 songs that inspired the singer while making their upcoming album Normal Isn’t, releasing February 6, 2026.

Maynard James Keenan, frontman of Puscifer (also Tool and A Perfect Circle), has shared an extensive list of tracks featuring over 80 songs which have inspired the band’s upcoming record Normal Isn’t, releasing February 6, 2026 via Bertelsmann Music Group.

Members of the alternative rock group have been sharing select tracks of music that they were listening to in the lead up to the bands fifth studio record on social media, with today’s (December 3rd) post coming from Keenan himself.

As you might expect from the singer, it’s a pretty diverse list, with tracks spanning Tears For Fears to Swans. I won’t lie, a lot of the artists here adhere to my taste, even if it does give off a “divorced sad dad” vibe, with bands like The Smiths, Nine Inch Nails, Bauhaus, New Order, The Cure and more.

Fellow bandmates Carina Round and Mat Mitchell’s playlists were fairly slim in comparison to Keenan’s, however there’s still a fair amount of carry over between all three, with The Cure, Tears For Fears and New Order appearing across both artists playlists.

The band have already shared the tracks ‘Self Evident’ and ‘Pendulum’ from Normal Isn’t if you’d like to hear some these influencers already showing through in the new record.
