A children’s choir in Oslo has gone viral after opening a Christmas concert with an emotional cover of Ozzy Osbourne’s ‘Dreamer’.

A children’s choir in Oslo, Norway has drawn widespread attention after opening their Christmas concert with a moving rendition of Ozzy Osbourne’s ‘Dreamer’. The performance, which was shared online, quickly spread across social media and even caught the attention of the Osbourne family.

As reported by Loudwire, the video was posted on December 17 by an Instagram user named Kristina, who explained that she leads the children’s choir at Nordpolen Skole in Oslo. Nordpolen Skole is described on its website as an activity school. In the clip, the choir performs ‘Dreamer’, originally released on Ozzy Osbourne’s 2001 solo album Down to Earth, as the opening number of their Christmas concert.

Kristina shared the motivation behind the song choice in her caption, writing, “The day we lost Ozzy, I decided that my children’s choir would start this year’s Christmas concert with ‘Dreamer.’ And so here it is – those who are coming after you – Nordpolen school choir in Norway – sharing your beautiful words that mean so much, to honour you, Ozzy.”

The footage shows the children dressed in festive outfits, while Kristina stands at the front conducting and guiding them through the song. The video shows the choir singing along to the emotional lyrics including “gazing through the window at the world outside / wondering will mother earth survive” and “It would be nice if we could live as one / When will all this anger, hate and bigotry be gone?”

The following day, Sharon Osbourne shared the clip on her own Instagram account. One viewer responded, “Come sobbing from @sharonosbourne stories. This is so beautiful.”

Kristina spoke about the personal impact Ozzy Osbourne’s death had on her. She shared that she had been a fan since sixth grade and had long dreamed of seeing him perform live, a wish she fulfilled in 2018. After his passing, she posted a tribute on Instagram on July 22, writing, “Your voice is instant comfort to me. You managed to create such imaginative fantasies with your art, providing an escape from reality, which we all need sometimes.”

Ozzy Osbourne died on July 22 at the age of 76, just weeks after his final performance at the Back to the Beginning concert, which marked the last show for both him and Black Sabbath. In a statement released at the time, the Osbourne family said, “It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning. He was with his family and surrounded by love.”

He’s been paid tribute to globally in the months since his passing by the wider community, including a performance at the VMA’s by Yungblud, Steven Tyler, and Joe Perry, and plenty of covers from acts like System of a Down and Judas Priest. A children’s choir cover at a Christmas gig in Norway might top the list for the most wholesome, though.
