Southern California deathcore unit Spite are gearing up for their first ever Australian headline tour in April, and the lineup around them just got heavier.
The band will bring Varials (USA) and Australia’s own DIESECT across the country for a seven-date run presented by Destroy All Lines, with tickets already on sale, alongside the touring lineup, organisers have now revealed the full list of local support acts joining the carnage in each city.
The tour kicks off in Brisbane on April 24th, before ripping through Newcastle, Sydney, Wollongong, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth.
Spite’s rise in modern heavy music
Over the past decade, Spite have become one of the most punishing names in modern heavy music. Since dropping their 2017 debut ‘Nothing Is Beautiful’, the band have built a reputation for blending deathcore brutality with flashes of nu metal groove and metalcore..
That early record drew comparisons to heavyweights like Thy Art Is Murder, The Acacia Strain and Suicide Silence, but Spite have continued carving out their own lane.
Their latest release ‘New World Killer’, out now via Rise Records, marked the band’s return after three years and immediately stirred up attention across the heavy music world, the record pushes their sound into even darker territory while keeping the raw aggression that has fuelled their live reputation.
Varials and DIESECT join the run
Joining Spite for the Australian lap are Pennsylvania mosh metal outfit Varials, who returned this year with their fourth studio album ‘WHERE THE LIGHT LEAVES’ via Fearless Records.
The band’s new material follows 2022’s ‘Scars for You to Remember’, continuing their mix of crushing heaviness and melodic tension. With tens of millions of streams and praise from outlets like Decibel and Revolver, Varials have become a staple of the modern metalcore circuit.
Flying the Australian flag on the tour is DIESECT, who have been steadily building momentum since releasing their ‘HIDE FROM THE LIGHT’ EP via Greyscale Records, currently touring Europe alongside Crystal Lake and Miss May I, the band will arrive back home road-tested and ready to tear through the local shows.
Each stop on the tour will also feature a rotating lineup of local heavy acts, including Zuko, Fatal Excuse, Ends In Tragedy, Necrosis, Detestor, Signals and Pincer+.
With three crushing bands leading the charge and a stacked list of openers across the country, Spite’s long awaited headline run promises an unforgiving week for Australia’s heavy music scene.
