The Clown in a Cornfield trailer promises old school scares

Share

Clowns are scary. Scarecrows are scary. Clown in a Cornfield asks “por que no los dos?”

It’s fun to see a movie state its purpose right up front, isn’t it? Clown in a Cornfield does just that. You read that title and you just think, yeah, that’s pretty creepy. Colour me intrigued.

Based on the YA novel of the same name by Adam Cesare, Clown in a Cornfield takes us to the little town of Kettle Springs. That’s where young Quinn Maybrook (Katie Douglas) has just moved with her doctor dad after the death of her mother. Kettle Springs doesn’t have much going for it apart from the annual Founder’s Day celebration. Unfortunately, that’s when town mascot Frendo the Clown starts killing off the local youth. In the cornfield. Hence: Clown in a Cornfield.

Look, let’s just watch the trailer.

Well, that looks like fun! This one is directed by Eli Craig, the man responsible for Tucker & Dale Vs Evil, so that’s a good sign. Aaron Abrams, Carson MacCormac, Kevin Durand, Will Sasso, Vincent Muller, Cassandra Potenza, Daina Leitold, Verity Marks, Ayo Solanke, and Alexandre Martin Deakin round out the film’s collection of potential victims. No word on who’s playing Frendo, though. Seems like we’ve got a mystery on our hands.

Will Frendo join the ranks of other iconic killer clowns like Art and Pennywise? Hard to say, but we’ll find out when Clown in a Cornfield hits Australian cinemas on May 8.
