Wednesday’s return to Netflix is heralded with a new teaser trailer

Addams Family-adjacent Wednesday Season 2 hits streaming in August.

No flies on Netflix, man. No sooner is one cult goth property circling the drain, then another ascends in its place. “Another”, in this case, being Wednesday, whose second season drops, appropriately enough, on Wednesday on August 6 on Netflix. Here, have a teaser trailer:

You know Wednesday, of course – the Tim Burton-led Addams Family reboot that saw deadpan daughter Wednesday (Jenna Ortega) packed off to monster school Nevermore Academy. The frisson of Riverdale energy (and, yeah, a bit of Harry Potter) worked wonders. The series was a hit, leaving a second season inevitable.

As the Netflix synopsis helpfully tells us:

Wednesday Addams (Jenna Ortega), returns to prowl the Gothic halls of Nevermore Academy, where fresh foes and woes await. This season, Wednesday must navigate family, friends and old adversaries, propelling her into another year of delightfully dark and kooky mayhem. Armed with her signature razor-sharp wit and deadpan charm, Wednesday is also plunged into a new bone-chilling supernatural mystery. Creator/showrunners Alfred Gough and Miles Millar return for the spine-tingling second season of Wednesday, alongside executive producer and director Tim Burton.

We do know we’re only getting four episodes, though. Wednesday Season 2 has been split in twain, with the final four episodes dropping on September 3.

Those eight slim episodes will encompass a massive cast, though. Emma Myers (Enid Sinclair), Joy Sunday (Bianca Barclay), Catherine Zeta-Jones (Morticia Addams), and Luis Guzmán (Gomez Addams) are all scheduled to return, along with Moosa Mostafa (Eugene), Georgie Farmer (Ajax), Dorobantu (Thing), and Hunter Doohan (Tyler Galpin), Isaac Ordonez (Pugsley Addams), and Luyanda Unati Lewis-Nyawo (Deputy Ritchie Santiago).

Jamie McShane (Sheriff Donovan Galpin) and Fred Armisen (Uncle Fester) are popping back for guest appearances, with other guests this season including Joanna Lumley, Joonas Suatamo, Christopher Lloyd, Thandiwe Newton, Heather Matarazzo, and Frances O’Connor.

And new to the scene we have the mighty Steve Buscemi, Billie Piper, Evie Templeton, Owen Painter, and Noah B. Taylor. I hope they all get enough camera time.
