Trivium and Bullet For My Valentine Wrap Up Tour, Save Kittens Instead

Share

Trivium and Bullet For My Valentine and their crews rescued four abandoned kittens from a diesel generator during their Atlanta show on the Poisoned Ascendancy Tour, bringing some unexpected joy to a tour that’s ending earlier than fans anticipated.

The Poisoned Ascendancy tour may be wrapping up earlier than fans hoped, but Trivium and Bullet For My Valentine have found a way to end things on a surprisingly heartwarming note.

While in Atlanta, Georgia on May 14 for their show at the Coca-Cola Roxy, both bands – alongside their touring crew and local firefighters – helped rescue a litter of four abandoned kittens trapped inside a diesel generator near the venue.

The scene was captured on video and shared by Trivium on May 17, complete with a tongue-in-cheek caption and follow-up comment: “WATCH UNTIL THE END! Band and crew from both Trivium and Bullet For My Valentine helped save 4 kittens from a massive diesel generator! What do you say? FREE MERCH FOR THESE KITTENS?!?!”

The rescue mission unfolds under a soundtrack of The Bangles’ Manic Monday, showing members of the Trivium and Bullet for My Valentine crew peering into nearby drains and crouching around the machinery to coax the kittens and their mother out with tuna and water. Trivium bassist Paolo Gregoletto is seen calling the Cobb County Fire Department, explaining that “there’s at least one or two more cats inside.”

Three kittens were quickly placed in a shaded box while firefighters and crew member Glen worked to locate the fourth, who had gone silent inside the generator. Glen eventually climbed inside to complete the rescue, earning himself a red firefighter helmet (and some serious internet points) from a firefighter named Scooter.

It’s a strangely poetic full-circle moment for the Poisoned Ascendancy Tour, which last week saw statements from both the Trivium and Bullet For My Valentine camps confirming that the North American leg would be the last. While an official announcement on further dates across Latin America and Australia hadn’t been made, they were all but confirmed by Matt Tuck late last year.

Fans have been expressing their disappointment and there’s been speculation of drama on tour between the two bands since the news dropped. However, last week Trivium’s Matt Heafy took to social media to confirm there was no beef – just differing plans for the future from Bullet For My Valentine.

While fans might be missing out on seeing the two bands perform together in other parts of the world, they’ve gained a new appreciation for the band’s offstage heroics.

Kittens saved. Merch promised. Tour almost complete – but not without one hell of a feel-good story.
