Slaughter To Prevail And BABYMETAL Collide On Unhinged New Track ‘Song 3’

Share

BABYMETAL and Slaughter to Prevail have joined forces on ‘Song 3′, a punishing new single set to appear on both bands’ upcoming albums, with Trivium’s Matt Heafy on shamisen.

BABYMETAL and Slaughter to Prevail have dropped ‘Song 3’, a heavyweight collaboration that fuses kawaii chaos with pure sonic brutality.

The single features on both bands’ upcoming albums – GRIZZLY from Slaughter to Prevail (out July 18 via Sumerian Records) and BABYMETAL’s METAL FORTH (out August 8).

‘Song 3’ is a collision of extremes. Slaughter to Prevail deliver their signature assault of guttural vocals and pounding riffs, while BABYMETAL counter with ethereal melodies and razor-sharp hooks. The track balances both worlds with eerie precision, shifting from vicious to victorious without losing grip.

Written between the UK and Russia by Slaughter to Prevail’s Jack Simmons and Alex Terrible, the track was later sent across continents to BABYMETAL, who built their contribution around the concept of “3”. They layered in Japanese lyrics, new flows, and their unmistakable theatricality.

Trivium’s Matt Heafy makes an unexpected appearance on shamisen, blending traditional instrumentation with the song’s modern violence.

The video follows a bullied, younger version of Alex Terrible, guided by BABYMETAL through a surreal transformation into something unstoppable. It’s as bizarre and intense as the track itself.

‘Song 3’ follows the release of Slaughter to Prevail’s ‘Russian Grizzly in America’ and BABYMETAL’s recent collab with Poppy, ‘from me to u’ – both tracks racked up millions of streams in a matter of weeks.

BABYMETAL’s upcoming album METAL FORTH is shaping up to be a genre-defying crossover warzone, with features from Spiritbox, Tom Morello, Polyphia, Electric Callboy, Bloodywood, and Poppy. Their viral hit with Electric Callboy, ‘RATATATA’, will also appear on the record.

The group wraps up their UK and Europe tour at The O2 Arena in London on May 30, becoming the first Japanese act to headline the venue. They’ll return to the US for their biggest North American tour to date, joined by Black Veil Brides, Jinjer and Bloodywood on select dates.

As for Slaughter to Prevail, GRIZZLY lands in July, and based on this track alone, it’ll be as brutal as ever.
