Black Sabbath Honoured in LEGO As Birmingham Prepares For Final Homecoming Show

Share

Black Sabbath has been immortalised in LEGO form at LEGOLAND Birmingham ahead of their last gig this weekend.

Black Sabbath, the titans of heavy metal, are getting a unique tribute ahead of their final performance in their hometown of Birmingham, UK – and it’s made entirely of LEGO. The Birmingham LEGOLAND Discovery Centre has unveiled a detailed brick-built homage to the band, starring a LEGO version of Ozzy Osbourne, complete with his iconic round glasses and flowing hair.

Set against a miniature model of Villa Park, the venue where Black Sabbath will take their last hometown bow, the scene captures decades of rock history in plastic bricks. The tribute is part of LEGOLAND’s permanent Miniland experience, which showcases Birmingham’s most beloved landmarks and cultural icons. Fans will be able to visit the new installation from Tuesday, July 1.

Amy Langham, general manager of LEGOLAND Discovery Centre Birmingham, shared the excitement around the project. “Black Sabbath are true Birmingham icons, and this felt like the perfect way to honour their final hometown show,” she said. “Our master model builders had great fun bringing Ozzy and the band to life in LEGO form – and we hope it strikes a chord with [Black] Sabbath fans young and old.”

Check out the photos of LEGO Black Sabbath below – one could say they’re…bricked up (I’m sorry).

Black Sabbath’s final concert this weekend is expected to give Birmingham a significant economic boost, with the West Midlands Growth Company estimating up to £20 million (approximately $27 million) in revenue generated over the weekend. Around 300,000 visitors are expected to flood the city for the weekend.

Tickets for the show sold out in under 16 minutes when they went on sale in February, with more than 150,000 people reportedly queued online to secure a spot. The massive demand reflects the legendary status Black Sabbath holds not only in Birmingham but around the world – with the show itself also being live-streamed globally for fans who can’t make it in person.

The event, titled ‘Back To The Beginning,’ will be hosted by actor Jason Momoa. The show promises a supergroup of musicians paying tribute to Black Sabbath’s storied career – and we really mean it when we say it’s a who’s who of heavy music. Metallica, Slayer, Pantera, Gojira, Billy Corgan, Slash, Duff, Alice In Chains, members of Korn, Limp Bizkit, Disturbed, Tool, and Rage Against the Machine’s Tom Morello (who’s also acting as musical director) are all taking the stage alongside Black Sabbath.

Proceeds from the concert will go entirely to charity, supporting Cure Parkinson’s, Birmingham Children’s Hospital, and Acorn Children’s Hospice – a charity backed by Aston Villa.

Black Sabbath’s final hometown performance promises to be a celebration of their legacy and a heartfelt farewell to the city that started it all.
