YUNGBLUD is set to fully pull back the curtain.
His new documentary ARE YOU READY, BOY?, directed by the powerhouse Paul Dugdale (The Prodigy: Worlds on Fire, Glastonbury Live), is set to hit cinemas globally on August 20 and 24. And judging by the early word, this isn’t your run-of-the-mill tour doc — it’s a raw, stripped-back deep dive into the chaos, vulnerability, and conviction behind his latest album Idols.
Shot at the legendary Hansa Studios in Berlin — the same walls that once held Bowie and U2 — the film captures YUNGBLUD (aka Dom Harrison) at a pivotal creative crossroads. There’s no crowd. No ego. Just Dom, the band, and the ghosts of icons past. It’s Berlin grit meets emotional truth, wrapped in 16mm black-and-white and bursts of cinematic colour.
“This place radiates unfiltered truth,” YUNGBLUD says of Hansa. “You’re standing in the shadows of legends and asking, ‘Who the f*ck am I? What am I gonna leave behind?’”
Good question. Because what ARE YOU READY, BOY? seems to answer and quite loudly is that YUNGBLUD isn’t just another alt-rock provocateur. He’s a creative force hell-bent on doing things differently, even if it breaks him in the process. The doc chronicles him recording Idols, his third UK No.1, performing the songs live for the first time, and wrestling with the weight of it all — without hiding behind the spectacle.
Director Dugdale nails it when he says: “We got to live in a moment with Dom, free of external noise. There’s a really pleasing purity about that.” No filters. No PR polish. Just a brutally honest snapshot of an artist mid-metamorphosis.
Tickets go on sale July 17 and can be accessed here. Whether you’re a diehard fan or just someone who appreciates fearless creativity, this one’s not to miss. It’s Dom’s love letter to Berlin, to the alt scene, and to everyone still figuring themselves out.
