Ill Niño’s Dave Chavarri On Their Upcoming Australian Tour: ‘This Scene Has Always Had Our Back’

Share

Ill Niño‘s Australian Tour 2025 is just around the corner, with the band revving up for their long awaited return. We caught up with founding member/drummer Dave Chavarri who couldn’t be more stoked to hit our shores. Chavarri called Australia “one of our most loyal scenes”, crediting fans for sticking with them through line up shifts and industry chaos. “We’ve been through it all, labels, member changes, but Aussie fans? They’ve never dropped us.”

The interview was conducted before the announcement of Tommy Roulette III as the bands new vocalist, Dave didn’t shy away from discussing their previous frontmen either. With both Cristian Machado (Lions At The Gate) and Marcos Leal coming up in the conversation, and his thoughts on the situation may just surprise you.

Killer Beaches And Finding Love

Memories of previous trips still burn bright for Chavarri, who laughs recalling everything from “killer beaches” to “meeting my wife here”. Sharing stages with local heavyweights like Parkway Drive, The Amity Affliction and Thy Art Is Murder hasn’t hurt either! He’s not playing favourites when it comes to ideal Aussie openers though, “So many bands we’d be honoured to share the stage with again.”

Chavarri says the band’s next chapter is fuelled by hunger. “We’ve got a fire again. The new line up’s tight, the energy’s different. It’s not about nostalgia, it’s about being the best ILL NIÑO we’ve ever been.”

For Aussie fans, the wait is almost over with Ill Niño playing three big shows this September, here’s hoping for a setlist spanning old school bangers and fresh material. “We’re coming in loud, fast, and ready to throw down.” Don’t miss your chance to see how new vocalist Tommy Roulette III fits into the mix!
