Gallery: Northlane & Ocean Grove @ Coolangatta Hotel

On a windy winter evening, punters descended on the Gold Coast for a sold-out stop on Northlane’s regional tour, joined by supports Ocean Grove, Mirrors, and Headwreck.

While it’s not often you’d say this, Ocean Grove and Northlane could have easily swapped headline spots – both bands brought explosive energy, led by charismatic frontmen who had the crowd in the palm of their hands.

From the opening sets right through to the main act, the energy in the room never dropped. Circle pits broke out often, a sure sign that the crowd was fully dialled in and appreciative of every act that took the stage.

Ocean Grove’s Dale Tanner took a moment mid-set to thank the crowd, reminding everyone that without fans willing to part with their hard-earned cash, there is no live music scene. It was a sincere and important sentiment that hit home.

It might’ve been cold outside, but inside, the atmosphere was electric – a warm, powerful reminder of what makes Aussie live music so special on a winter’s night.
