Hellions fans reckon the band could be back in business, after an Instagram story of three current and former members jamming together was spotted over the weekend.
If you were around the Aussie heavy music scene in the mid-to-late 2010s, you’ve probably heard of (and likely been a fan of) Hellions. While the band is currently (according to their official Instagram) “on vacation,” fans think there might be a comeback in the near future thanks to a sneaky Instagram story posted over the weekend.
The Instagram story in question was posted by Hellions vocalist Dre Faivre (and then re-shared by former vocalist and guitarist Matt Gravolin) on Saturday evening, and featured both musicians as well as drummer and backing vocalist Anthony Caruso in what appears to be a studio jamming out. Josh Campiao didn’t appear to be present, or at least tagged and spotted in the photo. The only additional context is a simple “hi,” written over the top.
Fans were quick to spot the story and let the theories run wild that the band is onto something new. Things have been pretty quiet on the Western front since 2022 show-wise (with a Sydney gig in May of 2022, following on from their Knight and Day performance at the end of 2021), and the band’s last release, Rue, dropped in late 2018.
While it’s not exactly concrete confirmation that Hellions have anything in the works, it is a glimmer of hope for fans of the band hoping they’ll be back making music and touring in the future. Gravolin recently wrapped up his Agnes Manners project earlier this year, so it does seem like the stars could be aligning.
We’ll be keeping a close eye on the Hellions camp for the time being. Is it wishful thinking, and just a group of creative mates getting together for a bit of fun, or something more? Hopefully, we’ll find out soon – and hopefully, there’s more to come.
