Norwegian rescuers are searching for two black metal musicians missing in the Fosen mountains after severe weather.
Authorities in Norway have launched a large-scale search for two well-known figures in the black metal world after they failed to return from a planned hike in the mountains near Tjønnstua. The missing men are Thorns founder Snorre W. Ruch and Slagmaur guitarist & bassist Rune “General Gribbsphiiser” Røstad, who were last seen on Tuesday before heavy weather swept into the region.
News of their disappearance first surfaced through an Instagram story shared by Dagur Gíslason of Misþyrming. He wrote: “A major search operation is now taking place for our friends Snorre W. Ruch and the General from Slagmaur in the mountains of Fosen. They have not returned from a planned hike they started on Tuesday, and severe weather has been reported in the area.”
“If you are in Central Norway and able to help, please contact the Chief of Operations at Fosen Fire and Rescue. Please help us share this. We are following the updates in the local newspaper from the peninsula at www.Fosen-folket.no”

Local outlet Fosen-Folket is reporting that emergency crews from the Red Cross, the fire department, and Civil Defense have all been called in to assist. According to their coverage, the two musicians told others they intended to take a route toward Tussbotna, then cross the water at Teksdalsdammen and camp overnight. The plan reportedly involved heading up to Torsenget the following day to work on photography.
“The Red Cross is now following the planned route, which is estimated to take around seven hours and forty minutes to walk. However, why the car is parked at Tjønnstua is a mystery.”
With worsening conditions in the region and no contact from either musician, search crews are continuing their efforts across difficult terrain. For now, friends, fans, and the wider metal community are hoping the pair are found safe and in good health. Updates from authorities are expected as the search progresses – and we’ll be updating as more information becomes available.
