Pretty sure everyone’s already on the hook for this already, Netflix.
Well here it comes: the final episode of Netflix‘s era-defining Stranger Things, a story so big it needs a feature length, two hour finale, even though this whole season might have worked better as a movie. But what’s done is done, so let’s see what tomorrow is gonna bring us, apart from a hangover.
Stranger Things Season 5 Trailer
What’s the plot?
C’mon, you must be across this by now. After five seasons (and twice that many years, just about) of Stranger Things, the now noticeably stubbly and taller kids of Hawkins, Indiana, along with their various allies like grumpy ol’ cop Hopper, embattled mum Joyce, and annoying AF Murray, are all in on the final battle to defeat Vecna, the malevolent and formerly human monster who has been pulling the strings from the Upside Down. It’s all hands on deck as our heroes plunge into that shadowy nether realm to finish the fight or die trying. We’re betting on the former, but there’s gotta be a body count, right? Place your bets!
Who’s in it?
- Winona Ryder as Joyce Byers, mum to Will and Jonathan.
- David Harbour as top cop Jim Hopper.
- Finn Wolfhard as Mike Wheeler.
- Millie Bobby Brown as psychic waif. Eleven/Jane Hopper
- Gaten Matarazzo as goofy delight Dustin Henderson.
- Caleb McLaughlin as Lucas Sinclair.
- Natalia Dyer as Nancy Wheeler, Mike’s older sister.
- Charlie Heaton as Jonathan Byers.
- Noah Schnapp as Will Byers, the kid who went missing way back in Season 1 and kicked all this off.
- Sadie Sink as moxie-filled Max Mayfield.
- Joe Keery as Steve Harrington, the perfectly-coiffed MVP of this whole mess.
- Maya Hawke as Robin Buckley, giving Dustin competition in the “goofy delight” stakes.
- Brett Gelman as Murray Bauman.
- Priah Ferguson as Erica Sinclair.
- Linda Hamilton as Dr. Kay, yet another in a long line of shady scientists.
When’s it out?
Stranger Things Season 5 Volume 3, titled “The Rightside Up“, hits Netflix on January 1 at 12pm AEDT.
What’s the vibe?
At this stage of the game you’re either in or you’re out in regards to Stranger Things, and nothing I say is gonna change that. Let’s reconvene on the 2nd and see how we went.
