Sophie Turner’s Lara Croft will have plenty of company when Tomb Raider hits our screens later this year.
We’re getting a new live action Tomb Raider streaming series at some point in the not too distant future, as we’ve reported before. First announced in May 2024 with Fleabag‘s Phoebe Waller-Bridge as creator, writer, executive producer, and co-showrunner, plus Game Of Thrones alumni Sophie Turner in the title role, development has been chugging along nicely, if quietly. But now About Amazon, which is sort of Amazon’s Tudum if you squint a bit, has unveiled the full principal cast.
In addition to Turner taking on the role of the titular globe-trotting adventuress previously played by Alicia Vikander and Angelina Jolie, newly announced cast members include Sigourney Weaver, Jason Isaacs, Celia Imrie, and Bill Paterson.
In a statement, Waller-Bridge said, “Tomb Raider boasts a plethora of iconic characters. I am thrilled to have been able to bring some personal and fan favourites to the screen while also introducing a few new rascals of our own to the mix. This cast is beyond my wildest dreams!”
Turner added, “I’ve been a longtime fan of Tomb Raider and the character of Lara. She has always felt for me, very emboldened in a male-dominated world. She’s a fierce female role model!”

And as for the full cast announcement:
- Martin Bobb-Semple is Zip, Lara’s tech guy.
- Jason Isaacs is Atlas DeMornay, Lara’s uncle.
- Bill Paterson is Winston, faithful butler to the Croft family
- Jack Bannon is Gerry, Lara’s pilot.
- John Heffernan is David, a hapless government official drawn into the adventure – whatever that turns out to be.
- Celia Imrie is Francine, the Head of Advancement at the British Museum.
- Paterson Joseph is government official Thomas Warner.
- Sasha Luss is Sasha, Lara’s new nemesis.
- Juliette Motamed is Georgia, a by-the-books curator at the British Museum.
- Sigourney Weaver is Evelyn Wallis, a mysterious woman who, on balance, is probably a villain.
- August Wittgenstein is Lukas, a rival tomb raider, which I’m fairly sure we’re not supposed to capitalise in this context.
Tomb Raider doesn’t have a release date as yet, but late 2026 is a safe bet
