Iron Maiden are heading to the big screen, the newly titled ‘Iron Maiden: Burning Ambition’ will land in Australian cinemas from May 7th, 2026, with tickets going on sale March 19th via ironmaidenfilm.com.
Announced by Universal Pictures International, the feature length documentary promises an in depth look at one of heavy metal’s most enduring institutions, directed by Malcolm Venville and produced by Dominic Freeman, the film tracks the band’s five decade climb from East London pubs to global stadium domination.
Five Decades Of Maiden
With unprecedented access to official archives, ‘Iron Maiden: Burning Ambition’ follows the band’s evolution across 50 years, from their 1975 formation under bassist Steve Harris to becoming a 100 million record selling juggernaut, Maiden’s scale is hard to overstate.
Across 17 studio albums, 13 live records and 47 singles, they’ve played nearly 2,500 shows in 64 countries, some of those tours famously travelled aboard Ed Force One, piloted by frontman Bruce Dickinson himself.
The documentary features interviews with Steve Harris, Dave Murray, Adrian Smith, Bruce Dickinson, Nicko McBrain, Janick Gers and long time manager Rod Smallwood, it also includes reflections from Javier Bardem, Lars Ulrich and Chuck D, each speaking on the band’s cultural weight and influence (per press release).
New key artwork by Albert ‘Akirant’ Quirantes offers the first visual glimpse of the project.

Arriving Mid Tour
The film drops while Maiden are deep into their two year ‘Run For Your Lives’ world tour, that run has already included a homecoming performance at London Stadium, not far from where it all began, and will stretch into more than 50 shows worldwide in 2026.
A newly announced event, EddFest at Knebworth Park on July 11th, adds another milestone to the anniversary celebrations.
For Australian fans, this cinema run is a rare chance to see the band’s story told on a large scale without waiting for the next stadium lap, which will be announced soon.
