Lestat Grapples With Unwanted Fame In A New Clip From Interview With The Vampire Season 3

Share

Interview With The Vampire puts the focus on the extravagant Lestat de Lioncourt in its third season.

It is a truth universally acknowledged that while the titular vampire in Interview With The Vampire is the gloomy, self-loathing Louis de Point du Lac, his father-in-darkness Lestat de Lioncourt is the more captivating character, all debauched hedonism and fits of pique and passion. That’s why the late author Anne Rice made him not just the star of her second novel in the Vampire Chronicles, The Vampire Lestat, but pretty much the leading light of her entire fictional universe. Naturally enough, AMC will be taking its cues from Rice for the third season of their acclaimed adaptation, even retitling the series in his honour. Which he would appreciate, we think, the egomaniacal leech that he is.

What’s the plot?

As the official synopsis tells us:

“In season three, resentful of the perfunctory portrayal in the trashy bestseller Interview With The Vampire, the Vampire Lestat sets his story straight in a way only the Vampire Lestat can — by starting a band and going on tour.”

Now, that is more or less the precis for the novel, The Vampire Lestat. But the series is also apparently revisiting the events from the first two seasons from Lestat’s perspective, which should prove illuminating.

Who’s in it?

  • Jacob Anderson as Louis de Pointe du Lac, the vampire being interviewed.
  • Sam Reid as Lestat de Lioncourt, a hedonistic French vampire and, let’s face it, the real MVP here.
  • Eric Bogosian as Daniel Molloy, a journalist in his 70s with Parkinson’s disease, and the interviewer.
  • Assad Zaman as Armand, a 514-year-old vampire and Louis’ on-off lover.
  • Delainey Hayles as Claudia, a 14-year-old girl whom Lestat turns into a vampire at Louis’ insistence to save her life. She forms a daughter-father relationship with the pair and struggles with her fate as an eternal teenager.
  • Justin Kirk as Raglan James, a member of the Talamasca, a secret order dedicated to studying the paranormal.
  • Jennifer Ehle as Gabriella, Lestat’s mother.
  • Christopher Heyerdahl as the ancient Roman vampire Marius.
  • Damien Atkins as Magnus.

When’s it out?

Some time in 2026, but no premiere date has been set as yet.

What’s the vibe?

Gorgeous, gothic, and queer as hell.
