The legal case involving former Turnstile guitarist Brady Ebert has reached its next major stage, with a trial date now officially locked in following upgraded charges earlier this year.
According to reports out of Maryland, Ebert is scheduled to stand trial beginning Monday, October 5th in Montgomery County Circuit Court in Rockville (Per Loudwire).
The proceedings are currently expected to run through October 7th, although scheduling remains subject to change, the case stems from allegations connected to a March 29th, 2025 incident involving William Yates, the 79 year old father of Turnstile vocalist Brendan Yates.
Authorities allege Ebert intentionally struck William Yates with a vehicle following a dispute outside the family residence, leaving him with severe injuries and requiring surgery.
According to reporting on the case, investigators were told Ebert allegedly arrived at the property, shouted abuse and sounded his vehicle horn before later returning and allegedly striking Yates in the driveway.
Ebert has denied wrongdoing and previously claimed surveillance footage would support his version of events, earlier this year a Montgomery County grand jury upgraded the case to include attempted first-degree murder, a charge that significantly increased potential legal consequences if convicted.
Alongside that charge, Ebert is also facing attempted second degree murder, first degree assault and two counts of second degree assault. Under Maryland law, attempted first degree murder carries a possible sentence of life imprisonment.
A decade long history
The case has continued drawing attention across the heavy music community due to Ebert’s history with Turnstile. Ebert served as co-founding lead guitarist and backing vocalist from 2010 until his departure in 2022, appearing across key releases including Time & Space and the Grammy nominated Glow On.
Following the original allegations, Turnstile released a public statement addressing their former bandmate and explaining the circumstances surrounding his exit:
“Turnstile cut ties with Brady Ebert in 2022 in response to a consistent pattern of harmful behavior affecting himself, the band, and the community. After exhausting every available resource to support his access to help and recovery, a boundary ultimately had to be set when healthy communication was no longer possible and he began threatening violence.”
The band has not publicly commented further since that statement.
