As promised last week, UK metalcore band Architects have shared their first new music in almost two years, a single entitled ‘Machine’.
Produced by the band’s drummer and founding member Dan Searle, the track combines elements of industrial, electronica, pop and alternative metal. It also features a downtuned breakdown, which unexpectedly sees vocalist Sam Carter implementing his lower register for a death growl.
The song’s music video was directed by Jensen Noen, an LA-based director who has worked with the band previously on video clips such as ‘Blackhole’ and ‘Broken Mirror’.
It depicts the band performing the song in the midst of a dystopic wasteland, while bodies are studied and examined using a large computer (ie. the titular “machine”) as a woman emerges from a vat of black water. Watch the video below:
Architects have not provided any statements regarding the new song, leaving the question open as to whether ‘Machine’ will lead-off the band’s prospective 12th studio album.
The single does, however, mark their first new material since their 11th: The Sky, the Earth & All Between, which was released in February 2025. It peaked at number two on the UK albums chart upon release, reaching the top 10 in a further six countries.
The album was flanked by the release of several singles ranging from ‘Seeing Red’ back in December 2023 to ‘Broken Mirror’ this past early January. The latter topped Billboard’s Mainstream Rock Airplay chart last month, marking the second single of theirs to do so behind the album’s fifth single ‘Everything Ends’.
The band have continued to tour extensively in support of the album – including a headling tour of Australia back in December, with support from House of Protection and the debut local shows for President.
Next month, Architects will embark on a European tour as main support for Korn; they will be joined by Youth Code and Pixel Grip as part of the bill. This will take the band through to the end of November, and mark their final shows of 2026.
