Comeback Kid have teamed up with Spiritbox’s Courtney LaPlante for ‘Shedding Season’, sharing the video as their eighth album, Chosen Hell, arrives today, Friday, November 6th.
LaPlante is one of two guest vocalists on the 11-track record, alongside Incendiary’s Brendan Garrone, who appears on ‘Yesterday’s Gone’. The album is being released through SharpTone Records in the US and Dine Alone Records in Canada.
“’Shedding Season’ is about peeling back the stress, drama, and pain that we’ve been carrying on through life with,” singer Andrew Neufeld explains.
“It is about defining that moment and feeling confident in the choice to move forward leaving it behind.”
Neufeld describes the collaboration as a confrontation between the two singers, with LaPlante taking the opposing side of the song’s narrative.
“We were fortunate enough to get Courtney LaPlante from Spiritbox to guest on this song and she crushed it. It is a back and forth, ‘me against you’ type of lyrical narrative between Courtney and I. Her voice is untouchable and her guttural yell screams volumes of passion in this song.”

Chosen Hell was produced, mixed and mastered by Will Putney at Graphic Nature Audio in New Jersey. His credits include work with Knocked Loose, Gojira and Every Time I Die.
There’s an Australian contribution to the record, too. Its cover features an actual structure built by artist Callum Preston in Melbourne, while the title track examines the choices people make even when they know those decisions are holding them back.
The album follows 2022’s Heavy Steps and the 2024 TROUBLE EP, extending a catalogue that began with Turn It Around in 2003. Records including Wake The Dead and Broadcasting… followed, with the band spending much of the intervening years touring internationally.
Comeback Kid’s November US dates include Flyover Fest in Oklahoma City on Saturday, November 7th, with the run continuing through Denver on Monday, November 23rd. Defeater, The Warriors and Dead Heat are among the support acts across the run, with the lineup changing between stops.
