Caleb Shomo has publicly come out as gay, with the Beartooth vocalist sharing an emotional statement over the weekend that quickly sparked widespread support across the heavy music community.
The announcement also led to a heartbreaking but deeply personal response from his wife, Fleur Shomo, who opened up about the emotional toll the situation has taken on both of them (per Loudwire).
In a lengthy social media post, Fleur described the past few months as “a very disorientating and hurtful time to navigate,” while making it clear she still loves and supports her husband.
Fleur also spoke candidly about balancing support for Caleb while dealing with the collapse of their relationship behind closed doors.
“To support him whilst losing everything has been incredibly hard to figure out,” she explained.
She later described their “14yrs of marriage” as “wonderful and full of so much fun, adventure & love,” before ending her post with the emotional line: “Our story was a good one. And now it’s done.”
Caleb’s original statement saw the singer reveal he had spent years struggling with his identity, addiction and self-acceptance.
“I am a proudly gay man,” he wrote.
The frontman explained that sobriety and self reflection ultimately pushed him toward accepting his sexuality, adding that he wanted to be fully honest moving forward both personally and creatively.
