Evanescence Set To Perform Their ‘Devil May Cry’ Song ‘Afterlife’ At The Game Awards

Evanescence’s Amy Lee has confirmed the band will perform their Devil May Cry song ‘Afterlife’ next week at the 2025 Game Awards.

If you were looking for another reason to tune into The Game Awards next week, you may have just found it.

Earlier today, the band’s official X / Twitter page confirmed the band will be performing their song ‘Afterlife’, which the nu metal group shared for the Netflix animated adaptation of the video game Devil May Cry.

Lee would also tease that there might be more news about a second season, which may feature another song from the band.

If you’re unfamiliar with The Game Awards, the event is an annual awards ceremony celebrating all things gaming within the year. It’s also an opportunity for developers to showcase trailers for their upcoming games and even announce them at the showcase, making it an exciting event for gamers to fill the ol’ E3 void.

For anyone confused by Evanescence’s presence here, you shouldn’t be. The Game Awards have featured musical performances by many renowned artists. Last year, Twenty One Pilots put on a stellar performance of their track ‘The Line’, taken from season 2 of Arcane. If you ever want to see rage bait in real-time, check out multiple streamer reactions to vocalist Tyler Joseph nailing a scream live on the broadcast.

Indie pop group CHVRCHES have also performed at the event, playing their song ‘Death Stranding’ taken from Hideo Kojima’s surreal thriller game with the same name.

It should also be important to note that the Devil May Cry franchise has a close relationship with all things metal. One need only look at the massive reputation Virgil’s theme (titled ‘Bury the Light’) has received over social media. When you think “aura farming soundtrack”, that chorus isn’t far off.

If you’d like to see tune in live, The Game Awards will be livestreamed on December 12 at 11:30am AEDT (or December 11 at 7:30pm EST for our American friends).

You can catch the Livesteam on Twitch, YouTube, Prime Video, Twitter / X, TikTok and more to catch Evanescence perform live and to see Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 sweep up all the awards.
