Kid Rock Says Friendship With Donald Trump Gives Him A “Front-Row Seat” To Politics

Share

Kid Rock says having a direct line to U.S. President Donald Trump makes for some entertaining late-night moments, and gives him what he describes as a unique perspective on modern politics.

Speaking during a recent interview with Sky News Australia, Kid Rock was asked what it’s like being close friends with someone he described as effectively “running the world”.

His answer was immediate (per The PRP):

“[it’s] f**king awesome.”

Rock, who has publicly supported Trump for years and regularly appeared alongside him at events, went on to describe their relationship as surprisingly casual behind the scenes.

According to Rock, the pair often talk outside of official settings, and sometimes those conversations start with a few drinks and a late night phone call.

“…It’s one of my late-night drinking tricks. ’Cause I know when to get him. And he’s so gracious. He always picks up. Or he’ll call and check in, just to shoot the shit most of the time.”

Non political

Rock insisted those conversations aren’t political strategy sessions.

“He’s not calling me to, like, ‘Hey, what should we do in Iran, Bob?’ I don’t get those calls.”

Instead, Rock framed the relationship as personal rather than political, joking about calling Trump while hanging out with friends.

“I’ll be, like, ‘Hey, let’s call the President and bullshit.’ And people will be, like, ‘What?’”

He then summed up the experience with a line that’s already attracting attention online.

“I enjoy the hell out of hanging out with him and talking with him and just having a front-row seat to the greatest shit show on Earth.”

Elsewhere in the interview, Rock defended Trump’s leadership and argued that his approach has always centred on putting the United States first.

“It kills me, the people that don’t see that,” Rock said.

The comments add to a long public history between the pair, with Rock previously appearing at Trump-aligned events and publicly discussing his access to the president, whether fans see it as celebrity politics or just another chapter in Kid Rock’s ongoing unpredictability, he seems more than happy with his seat in the room.
