Jimmy Eat World Announce Biggest Ever Australian Headline Tour For 25 Years Of Bleed American

Jimmy Eat World are bringing Bleed American back to Australia in full.

The Arizona alternative rock icons will return this December for their biggest ever Australian headline tour, celebrating 25 years of the album that launched them from cult heroes into one of the defining guitar bands of the 2000s.

The run will hit Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Brisbane, marking Jimmy Eat World’s first Australian headline tour since 2017. It will also serve as the final performances anywhere in the world celebrating the 25th anniversary of Bleed American, giving Australian fans the last chance to see the record performed live in its entirety.

They will be joined on all Australian dates by Ruby Fields and A. Swayze & The Ghosts.

Originally released on July 24, 2001, Bleed American became the record that pushed Jimmy Eat World into the mainstream without sanding off what made them matter. It gave the world ‘The Middle’, ‘Sweetness’, ‘A Praise Chorus’ and the title track, all while helping shape the emotional, melodic guitar music that would ripple through pop-punk, emo, alternative rock and beyond for the next two decades.

‘The Middle’ has since crossed into Spotify’s Billion Streams Club, while Bleed American remains one of those rare records that feels both completely locked to its era and somehow immune to it. It is Y2K rock at its most sincere: big hooks, clean lines, existential panic, and the kind of chorus that still makes a room full of adults briefly forget they have emails to answer.

For frontman Jim Adkins, the anniversary tour is about more than nostalgia.

“When we printed the last mix of Bleed American, we felt like we had achieved something great for ourselves,” Adkins said. “There was no barometer of how it would connect with people outside of the studio, and we are still in awe with the life the record and songs have had since their original release. Bleed American is as much yours as it is ours, so we want to celebrate it with you all in a very special way.”

Adkins also described the tour as “an elevated version” of the band’s live show, with production designed to reflect 25 years of growth on stage.

Tickets go on sale to the general public at 11am local time on Thursday, July 16 via teglive.com.au. PayPal customers will have access to a presale from 10am local time on Tuesday, July 14 until 10am local time on Thursday, July 16, unless sold out earlier.
