Clutch have timed this one almost perfectly.
The Maryland rock veterans will release their 14th studio album, Wasted Lands, on January 22nd, 2027, then begin their first Australian headline tour in a decade the very next night in Fremantle.
The band have also shared the album’s title track, along with a new music video (per Next Mosh).
Wasted Lands was written and recorded at Clutch’s Doom Saloon studio in Frederick, Maryland, and brings producer Machine back into the fold for the first time since 2015’s Psychic Warfare.
The title track came from a particularly strange source.
“The inspiration for the lyrics in Wasted Lands came about when it was brought to my attention that someone had been dragging my name on FaceBook (weird, right?),” Neil Fallon said. “Apparently, I had reneged on a free t-shirt and dinner. I think it was a prize in a pay to play contest. Not to overstate the obvious, but it was a load of horse hockey.”

The person had apparently been dealing with someone impersonating Fallon online, but refused to believe they had been scammed even after others tried to explain what had happened.
“Many people tried to explain to this person that it was not me and that they had been hustled. But they simply would not believe it. So I thought, screw it, no half-measures. You want a monster? Let’s give you one.”
The 12-track record follows 2022’s Sunrise On Slaughter Beach, with Clutch saying the sessions were built around making songs that would hit properly onstage while still leaving room for the band to wander off script when something interesting appeared.
Australia will be one of the first places to hear how that translates live.
Clutch begin their run with Corrosion Of Conformity at Metropolis Fremantle on January 23rd, before heading through Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne. Both bands then close out the trip at Adelaide’s Froth & Fury Festival on January 30th.
