Paleface Swiss Dress As Slipknot and Cover Three Songs For Halloween

Share

Masks, red boiler suits and three Slipknot covers opened the band’s Core Fest headline set in Germany.

Paleface Swiss committed to the Halloween costume, opening their Core Fest headline set dressed as Slipknot and playing three of the band’s songs.

Metal Hammer reports that the Swiss deathcore band performed ‘(sic)’, ‘People = Shit’ and ‘Psychosocial’ at the EWS Arena in Göppingen, Germany on Saturday 31 October.

They gave the crowd a warning first. Slipknot’s ‘742617000027’ played before the curtain dropped, revealing the masks and red boiler suits.

The three-song opening built on a cover Paleface Swiss had already been taking out for a spin. Metal Hammer reports that they played ‘People = Shit’ in Mexico City and Dallas earlier in October.

There is some history behind the homage, too. Frontman Marc ‘Zelli’ Zellweger previously told the magazine that listening to Slipknot helped him process anger as a teenager. The Halloween set gave that influence a particularly literal outing.

Australian fans will get another chance to see Paleface Swiss early next year, although, disappointingly, the costumes aren’t part of the advertised package.

Promoter ThePhoenix.au confirms their return begins at Perth’s Astor Theatre on 27 January, with Counterparts and Fox Lake announced for the headline run.

The Australian itinerary also takes in Froth & Fury in Adelaide and shows in Melbourne, Canberra, Sydney, Brisbane and Townsville, before the band heads to New Zealand. No Slipknot tribute set has been announced for those dates.
