Pond Announce Australian Headline Tour For December

Pond are bringing the Terrestrials tour home, announcing a run of Australian headline shows for this December.

Following their recent US touring, including dates alongside Djo, the Fremantle psych-rock favourites will play four headline shows across the country, kicking things off on home turf at Freo Social on December 5th.

From there, Pond will head east later in the month for shows at Brisbane’s The Triffid, Melbourne’s Northcote Theatre and Sydney’s Metro Theatre.

Automatic will join the band for the Fremantle date, with further support acts for the remaining shows still to be announced.

Automatic will support Pond in Fremantle, with additional supports for Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney still to be announced.

The tour comes in support of Pond’s 11th studio album, Terrestrials, which arrived earlier this year. The record finds the five-piece, Nick Allbrook, Jay Watson, Joe Ryan, Jamie Terry and James Ireland drawing on Australian rock while pushing further into post-punk and new wave territory.

The December dates will also see Pond bring a new live show to Australian audiences after taking Terrestrials on the road internationally.

The band’s latest run through the US earned praise from Chicago Music Guide, which wrote:

“Pond spent the night demonstrating that psychedelic rock can be loud, contemporary, strange, danceable, and occasionally ferocious without abandoning what made the genre its own thing in the first place.”
