As December rolls in, music fans everywhere are waiting for that annual hit of ego, shame and nostalgia, in the form of Spotify Wrapped.
The streaming giant’s personalised listening breakdown has become a cultural fixture, the one week a year where everyone floods social feeds with proof they really did listen to that one metalcore EP 300 times.
Spotify hasn’t revealed the official date for Wrapped 2025, but history gives us a pretty tight window with the feature almost always dropping in the first week of December, and previous releases point to somewhere between December 2nd to 4th this year.
Wrapped’s rise has pushed every major platform to build their own takes, Apple Music Replay, which originally launched with a messy and inconsistent rollout pattern, has settled into a reliable rhythm lately which is usually the first Tuesday of December. That makes December 2nd (In the US) the most likely landing spot for this year’s Replay, YouTube Music Recap tends to appear around the same time.
Gaming companies
It’s not just music platforms gearing up, gaming companies now treat year end recaps like another engagement event. Steam ties its annual summary to the launch of its Winter Sale, which hits December 18th, PlayStation Wrap Up historically drops in the second week of December, making December 8th a strong contender.
Xbox Year in Review is still finding its pattern, after debuting in 2023, its releases have swung between the first and second Tuesdays of December, meaning this year’s recap could appear anytime from December 2nd through 9th. Nintendo tends to play it safe with mid December, often landing around December 13th, while Reddit Recap continues with its app notification rollout whenever the feature goes live.
Whatever platform you swear by, the next two weeks are stacked with digital yearbooks documenting just how unhinged your listening, gaming or scrolling habits have been. Wrapped season has become a weirdly unifying moment across the music world, a reminder of how deeply people engage with artists, albums and scenes across the year.
