Bring Me the Horizon frontman Oli Sykes and Spiritbox frontwoman Courtney LaPlante have both contributed to a new song that serves as the theme song for an upcoming video game tournament, the 2026 Valorant Champions in Shanghai.
‘If the Sun Burns Out Tonight’ was written by American EDM artist Grabbitz, who also serves as the song’s co-producer alongside Sykes. The industrial-rock track serves as a stylistic hybrid between the electronic background of its producer and the alt-metal background of its two vocalists.
An accompanying music video has been shared for the single, which is set to footage of the Valorant first-person shooter game and was created in partnership with French animation collective Brunch Studio. It can be viewed below:
The single marks the third time overall that Grabbitz has been involved with the Valorant Champions theme song – or “anthem,” as it is known. He created the track ‘Die For You’ solo for the 2021 tournament, and returned in 2023 with ‘Ticking Away’ in collaboration with Canadian rapper bbno$.
Not only does this mark Sykes and LaPlante’s first contribution to the tournament’s anthology, it also marks the first time the pair’s voices have appeared on the same song together. LaPlante has appeared on-stage with Bring Me the Horizon twice in the past, providing guest vocals on ‘Chelsea Smile’ in 2022 and for ‘Nihilist Blues’ in 2023.
Sykes’ last solo outing was as guest vocalist on Yungblud‘s ‘Happier’ in 2023, while LaPlante has contibuted vocals to an eclectic variety of songs in the last few years – including on songs by artists as varied as Megan Thee Stallion, Poppy, SeeYouSpaceCowboy, PVRIS and Slander.
The 2026 Valorant Champions tour will commence on Thursday, September 24th. The group and playoff stages of the tournament will take place in the city’s Jing’an Sports Center before moving to the Mercedes-Benz Arena next month for the top-four playoffs and grand final.
Around the same time, Bring Me the Horizon will kick off a Canadian headlining tour before heading back to the US for a headlining show in Grand Rapids and a slot on this year’s Furnace Fest.
Spiritbox, meanwhile, are currently in the midst of a UK and European tour with Jinjer and Dying Wish. They will then return to Australia in December as part of this year’s Good Things, where they are one of several exclusive acts on the bill.
